So let’s take a look at the three biggest questions for the Browns as the offseason begins.

Executive vice president of football operations and general manager Andrew Berry said in his postseason press conference that change is a constant phenomenon in the NFL. Despite the record, the team will see the table every year. This is the way this can happen and berry is preparing for this concept. “I think as a general manager, you go into the offseason knowing that going back isn’t really an option,” Berry said. “This is at odds with the economic reality of our sport. So I would say accept the reality and try to make the best decisions for the good of the club. It’s very simple.”
What draft picks do the Browns have in 2024?
The 2024 NFL Draft is set for April 25-27 in Detroit, and the Browns have seven picks this year, starting with a second rounder. They also have two third-round picks, two fifth-round picks, two sixth-round picks and a seventh-round pick.
Depending on how free agency plays out in the month or so leading up to the NFL Draft, the Browns could use their picks to add depth to the roster, address specific position groups and develop young players. In last year’s draft, the Browns added seven rookies: DT Siaki Ika, DE Isaiah McGuire, QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Cameron Mitchell, Luke Whipler, WR Cedric Tillman and T Dawand Jones. The 2023 season saw several rookies get significant opportunities as the Browns battled injuries. Jones assumed the starting role in Week 2 of the season after T Jack Conklin suffered a knee injury nine games into the season before dealing with a season-ending injury. Thompson-Robinson spent time at starting and backup quarterback while dealing with injuries at home. Tillman found an expanded role during the season, finishing the season with 21 receptions for 224 yards. Mitchell also had a chance in the second period, finishing the regular season with 18 tackles for a loss.

What roster holes can the Browns fill?
In their approaches to free agency and the draft, the Browns will be in a position to fill a need and add depth to their roster. Offensively, they were able to add depth at wide receiver, playing 11 men in the 2023 season and putting three wide receivers on the field at times. They have Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore under contract for next season, as well as young players in Tillman and David Bell in the mix, but adding players in the receiving department could be the focus. Browns have Jedrick Wills Jr. With Jack Conklin and Jedrick Wills Jr. at tackle, the player restores space on the offensive line. And Jones could return from a season-ending injury. However, offensive line depth could be an area of focus as they have three injuries hitting the 2023 season. Defensively, the Browns have holes to fill at linebacker. Takitaki, Walker, Adams, Kunasic and Phillips will all become unrestricted free agents this offseason, with only Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Tony Fields II and Mohamud Diabat remaining under contract. Owusu-Koramoah had a breakout season in 2023, leading the Browns with 101 sacks and 20 sacks in the regular season. He also had six pass breakups, two interceptions, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble. But the Browns need depth on offense.
The Browns still have key players on their defensive line as DT Dalvin Tomlinson is under contract for next season and Browns linebackers Myles Garrett and Ogbo Okoronkwo are also under contract. However, with Elliott, Hurst and Harris being unrestricted free agents, they could add depth, especially at defensive tackle. They could also add depth at defensive end with Smith becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Conversations about needs and what can be added could change in the offseason when free agency begins in March. As they prepare for the various metrics of the season, the Browns are focusing on the areas they can see and figuring out the best ways to address them.
