Failed Tiger Woods golf course tract back on market, $19 million for 550 acres

Tiger Woods has 82 PGA Tour wins, 15 major championships and more than $1 billion to his name. So it’s comforting to know that he won’t just win everything he does, he’ll win almost everything he does. One of his few missteps was his attempt to play golf in western North Carolina in 2007, which fell through due to a volatile real estate market and environmental concerns. If you have $19 million and love the outdoors, this property could be yours.

A 550-acre property nestled in the mountains of the Swannanoa River is back on the market after being bought by South Carolina investors for $15.5 million in 2019. Land.com lists it as pure Carolina.

“Perfectly displayed on a mountain plateau just 25 minutes from Asheville, this 550-acre property offers a unique part of Western NC that cannot be replicated,” says the listing from real estate agent Billy May. “This site was once the centerpiece of a master-planned community in The Cliffs, High Carolina and the site of the first Tiger Woods master-planned golf course in North America. Unique views can be admired from every corner of the property. The altitude is 3100~4300.

“This property has abundant wildlife and high quality timber. There is potential for outstanding conservation value due to previous development plans. Other possible uses include private property, residential development, recreation/recreation/events, equestrian, golf, bank land, mixed use or vision.

What else does it take to buy nearly $20 million? If you’re feeling suffocated in your one-bedroom apartment, this might actually be a way to connect with Mother Nature and take action. If it’s good enough for Tiger, it’s good enough for you. The area is steeped in golf history and is where Woods tried out one of the first golf courses in the country. Near Etowah, the Arnold Palmer-designed Seven Falls course collapsed in the late 2000s when the site’s developer was shut down. Keith Arthur Vinson was sentenced to 18 years in prison on charges including bank fraud, fraud against the United States, embezzlement of bank funds, bank fraud and money laundering through a sophisticated financial scheme.

Outdoor News says Bright’s Creek in Polk, created by neighbor Tom Fazio, is still open. Now you have the opportunity to own a 550 hectare golf course. Make sure you have a professional website developer on your side.
