A 550-acre property in Swannanoa, once the first golf course in North America masterminded by Tiger Woods, is on the market for $19 million. This is the second time the property has been on the market since plans to develop the site were abandoned in the late 2000s. The property, located 27 miles east of Asheville, has had two owners since Woods visited in 2007. The entire 800-acre property sold for $15.3 million in 2019, according to the Citizen Times. The property at 400 Spring Mountain Road is assessed at $2.3 million in taxes and is currently owned by South Carolina-based New Fort LLC.
Former owner David Strauss told the Citizen Times in 2019 that the cost and lack of interest in the land led to the sale of the property for $15.3 million that year. “We didn’t want the building anymore and it was too expensive,” says Straw.
