Former Wrexham manager Dean Saunders has told the club’s owners they must invest if they want to reach the Premier League.

The Red Dragons are riding the crest of a wave at the moment, having only won promotion from the National League last year. They are well-placed to go back-to-back and return to League One for the first time since 2005.

If they achieve that aim, attention will soon turn to what is next for the Welsh club. While Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are ambitious owners, it’ll take more investment to make it to the Championship and potentially the Premier League.

Welcome to Wrexham is back to take you behind the scenes at the Welsh club following the superstar takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Saunders, who was in charge of the Red Dragons from 2008 until 2011, believes his old club should target the second-tier first before getting any ideas about the top-flight.
