Jon Rahm caught swearing on hot mic during LIV Golf debut with footage released

When Spanish golfer Jon Rahm was spotted swearing on a hot mic while navigating the Mayakoba course for his LIV Golf debut, the video sparked differing reactions.

Jon Rahm, a member of the Legion XIII LIV Golf team, was unintentionally captured on camera shouting “f*** off” into a hot mic during his team’s inaugural competition.

Rahm cursed on the eighth hole after misjudging an approach shot while lining up a putt. Then, Rahm responded in a similar manner on the eighteenth hole, yelling, “F***! Be fortunate.” The ball fell into the bunker while he was furious.

Rahm, who signed a contract worth an estimated $600 million with LIV Golf at the end of 2023, got off to a scorching start, birdieing five of his first seven holes to surge into the lead. Even though he was 7 under par after 15 holes, he had a stumble near the end of his round. Rahm lost his momentum at the end of his round after making consecutive bogeys.

On social media, the foul-mouthed video went viral and received mixed reviews. Rahm and [Tyrrell] Hatton are pure comedy, a fan wrote, praising Rahm’s expressive personality. Another supporter of Rahm retorted, saying, “Love it. Expand the game.”

The use of colorful language was approved, which infuriated those who held the opinion that golf was a kid-friendly activity. As Rahm completed the course, there were also grievances raised regarding the broadcast quality.

An irate X user commented: “Very elegant. It’s a really family-friendly place. I’m glad I can’t watch golf with my kids anymore. What a world. Another dissatisfied viewer commented, “This league uses typical language. a disgrace to the young onlookers and fans. That’s how you expand the game, right?

After placing third, Rahm spoke with the media and emphasized the distinctions between the PGA Tour and LIV. The Saudi-backed group permitted music to play during the course in order to improve the experience for the audience. Rahm commented, “I really like the music, but it’s definitely a little different vibe.” “We play pretty much the same way at home.”

He went on, “A lot of us have golf carts with some pretty powerful speakers, especially the people I play with.” If anything, it was minimal in comparison to my usual experiences. Yes, it was fantastic, and I was paired with two of the kindest people imaginable. Talor and Cam are very pleasant people.

At the Mayakoba Resort, where the inaugural LIV Golf event of the year got underway on Friday, Rahm stated on Wednesday that the weeks preceding his announcement to join LIV were difficult. In the end, he concluded that the organization’s team mentality was crucial and that the relocation would be financially advantageous for his family and him.

The league’s next tournament, LIV Golf Las Vegas, will take place at the Las Vegas Country Club from February 8–10. It is anticipated that Rahm and his teammates will take part in their pursuit of the Team Championship at the conclusion of the season.
