LIV Golf is taking advantage of a perfect storm sweeping the PGA Tour courses.

 

For them, the PGA Tour’s first signature event fell so short, they wondered if Saudi Arabia had redeemed it.

On Sunday, spectators looking for a typical round of golf were forced to attend the LIV season opener at Mayakoba, eventually won by Chile’s Joaquin Nieman on the fourth extra hole in the dark. To be fair, many fans have a choice about what they want to see, even though the $20 million Pebble Beach event covers the entire 72-hole course.

In 2017, Feng became the only Chinese golfer to date to reach the world No 1 ranking. During a supremely consistent career, Feng registered 18 top-10 finishes in majors, two of them in 2021 even as she was winding down her playing commitments.
