Patrick Mahomes is laser-focused on the Super Bowl and knocking off the San Francisco 49ers.

Still, one would have to think the has thought about his father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., who is reportedly facing hefty jail time for his third DWI.

Earlier this week, it was reported the elder Mahomes was booked in a Texas county jail after getting arrested for is third DUI.

 

Since then, more information has come out about the incident.

 

Patrick Mahomes Sr. was driving with an open 16-ounce Coors beer in the center console shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday when he was stopped by police and arrested for driving while intoxicated, according to an affidavit obtained by The Post from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.

He told police he “had a few beers while watching a game at a local bar” when asked why he was drinking while driving, per the affidavit.

It was the third DWI for Mahomes, a former MLB pitcher who spent time with the Mets.

He was also cited in 2008 and 2019, per police records.

A third DWI conviction is penalized by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, according to Texas law

Mahomes Sr. agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and displayed four clues of intoxication during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus eye test, five clues during the Walk and Turn test, and two clues during the One Leg Stand, according to police.

“Based on the totality of the circumstances,” the arresting officer wrote, citing probable cause, “I believed Patrick was impaired to a perceptible degree while operating a motor vehicle in a public place.”

Mahomes’ vehicle was observed during a routine patrol driving slower than the other traffic in the area and police say that they ran a registration check on the vehicle and it showed an expiration date of 2022.

Mahomes was the hottest attraction at Monday night’s Super Bowl media kickoff event and was swarmed with reporters asking a wide array of questions. .

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said his father is “doing good” after his arrest Saturday night on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

But when reporters tried to get the Kansas City QB to elaborate on the matter, they were met with a blunt response.

“It’s a family matter, so I’ll keep it to the family,” Mahomes told reporters during Super Bowl opening night. “That’s all I have to say.”

His dad, 54, was released from Smith County Jail in Texas on Sunday afternoon after posting $10,000 bond.

Patrick Mahomes Sr. will not be barred from traveling to Las Vegas this week to see his son’s Chiefs take on the 49ers in Super Bowl 2024, despite his arrest on a DWI charge eight days before kickoff.

 

The former Mets pitcher, can potentially watch the 28-year-old quarterback in Sunday’s championship contest at Allegiant Stadium as a travel ban has not been enacted as part of the bond conditions, according to reports and documents obtained by The New York Post.

Mahomes Sr, is prohibited from possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs and is to “submit to testing on a random basis,” in addition to installing an interlocking device on a vehicle.
