The Greatest Hole-in-1 at the Phoenix Open Didn’t Come From Tiger Woods

The biggest hole at the Phoenix Open isn’t Tiger Woods at 1

The WM Phoenix Open, dubbed “The Greatest Show on Grass,” is unlike any other golf event, but LIV Golf does its best to recreate the atmosphere.

Held at TPC Scottsdale since 1987, the tournament is the PGA Tour’s most popular event of the year, and the roughly 600,000 fans who attend each year know how to have a good time. (As someone who has been one of the 600,000 more than once, trust me when I tell you, it really sucks.)

The biggest attraction of the WM Phoenix Open is the famous 16th hole, “The Coliseum”, where approximately 20,000 spectators surround the 163-yard par 3 in a stadium-like environment. Commentator Jim Nantz says the Masters is a tradition unlike any other, but TPC Scottsdale’s 16th hole can make that claim, too. There have been 11 holes on the 16th over the years, none more famous than Tiger Woods’ electric ace that rattled the clubhouse windows a few hundred yards away.

Ask 100 golf fans about the greatest moments in Phoenix Open history.
