AFCON 2023: ‘Don’t worry Super Eagles’, Odebami warns of Côte d’Ivoire clash
Africa Cup of Nations winner Dr. Olusegun Odebami has advised the Nigerian Football Federation to weave a protective net around the Super Eagles to ensure maximum concentration for players and officials in the Africa Cup of Nations final against Ivory Coast on Sunday.
“There is an interesting story about a triathlete who was well ahead of all his competitors for most of the race and was confident that he would win. But he got closer to the pack and before he could muster up the energy to run towards the pack, he saw someone pass him for the win. The moral of the story is that it’s not over until it’s over. “The UFF shouldn’t let the team worry before the game starts, let’s give the kids a chance to concentrate and focus on the task at hand. “We shouldn’t be allowed to go easy on the team camp,” he said.
The 1980 finals top scorer said: “We all have to try to help the team. Let them be themselves. All these are of great national importance for the glory of our motherland. “We must not distract our athletes
from this important national mission.”
