Mercedes will soon be approached by Pierre Gasly’s management team to discuss the possibility of replacing Lewis Hamilton next year, according to reports. The latter will depart Mercedes at the end of 2024 to join Ferrari, having signed a multi-year contract with the historic Italian outfit.

Mercedes will be scrambling to find a replacement for Hamilton between now and the end of the season, with only George Russell confirmed to be driving for the team in 2025. It seems Gasly would be interested in leaving Alpine to join the Silver Arrows as he nears the end of his contract, which is due to expire after the upcoming campaign.

‘Talks are anticipated’ between Gasly’s representatives and Mercedes as they weigh up their options away from Alpine, according to F1.com. It is said that his management team are hoping to accelerate the process of sounding out new opportunities in the next few weeks.

Gasly was recently asked about the possibility of joining Mercedes following the surprise announcement of Hamilton’s impending exit and said: “It’s the last year of the contract. At the minute, my main focus is with Alpine. I’m fully on board with the team. We know what we signed for, that’s what I’m fully working on.
