Greg Norman was furious after Tiger Woods mocked LIV Golf’s problems.

Tiger Woods, who was away from the PGA Tour for a period of time, has risen impressively up the world rankings since returning to the World Championship. Although LIV Golf has expressed disappointment at being removed from the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), Tiger Woods has made optimal use of the system for the 2023 season.

An ankle problem forced Woods to miss last year’s Masters and compete in just three tournaments all season. He was unable to play for more than seven months due to injury and only made two goals. It wasn’t until his November that he reappeared in Hero His World His Challenge. After a long absence from the PGA Tour, he had fallen to his lowest world ranking ever, arriving in the Bahamas last year ranked below 1,200th among golfers in the world.

It was no surprise that his game was still rusty when he returned. He competed against a group of the world’s most impressive players in the Hero Tournament and finished 18th out of 20. Although Woods did not perform as well as expected, he still enjoyed a significant rise in the world rankings. Thanks to valuable ranking points earned during PGA Tour-only events, Woods’ 18th-place finish was a whopping jump of 430th on the list. This impressive growth allowed him to once again be among the top 900 players. While LIV Golf’s certification by OWGR is still awaited, this promotion comes at a critical time for its position in the rankings.

Despite having some of the most notable athletes in the field, the Breakaway League cannot provide participants with world ranking points. As a result, the ratings of top players such as Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau have declined. Woods’ extraordinary rise came about a month later, shortly after LIV OWGR’s last request was denied. Last October, the decision infuriated LIV executives, who responded with a strongly worded statement criticizing the reliability of the rankings. Their harsh words cast doubt on his OWGR’s ability to accurately rank the world’s best players. “OWGR’s sole purpose is to rank players’ overall performance. “Today’s announcement shows that this goal is no longer achievable.”

The lack of a truly comprehensive scoring and ranking mechanism has left professional golf in turmoil. With widespread distrust and no clear benefit to either enthusiasts or participants, it is imperative that players’ outstanding achievements are duly recognized. Recently, LIV CEO Greg Norman renewed his dispute with OWGR. Norman took to social media to criticize LIV’s lack of representation among the world’s top 50 players, noting that it only included five players. He pointed out that three of them are recently signed Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Adrian Melonk. Norman criticized the ranking list during a hot voice speech, emphasizing the continuous negligence of the truck.

It was the most memorable moment of my career.” Brought up in China’s southern Guangdong province, neighbouring Hong Kong, an 18-year-old Feng became the first Chinese player to earn an LPGA tour card in 2007. The easy-going Feng went on to be the first Chinese player, man or woman, to win a major and lifted 10 LPGA titles during her 14 active years on the tour. In 2017, Feng became the only Chinese golfer to date to reach the world No 1 ranking. During a supremely consistent career, Feng registered 18 top-10 finishes in majors, two of them in 2021 even as she was winding down her playing commitments.
