Toto Wolff’s comments about Lewis Hamilton’s Formula One future have come back to haunt him.
Hamilton made the shock decision to join Mercedes’ rivals Scuderia Ferrari earlier this month. It marks an end to the seven-time Formula One champion’s legendary 11-year stint with Mercedes, despite signing a two-year extension with the Silver Arrows just last summer.

Despite stating his desire to remain at Brackley, the British racing icon makes it clear in a conversation with Wolff that time is running out for him to add a record eighth title. The Austrian attempts to persuade Hamilton that his future remains with Mercedes, highlighting his importance in leading the team over the years.
Hamilton appears to be convinced, saying: “There just never feels like a time when I’m not gonna be a Mercedes driver,” and, when pressed and asked if the Scuderia has been in touch, he gives a definitive “No”.
