PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan provides update on Tiger Woods’ career plans
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan talks about Tiger Woods’ career plans
Tiger Woods hasn’t competed regularly on the PGA Tour in recent years, but he plans to participate as much as his body allows and compete at each tournament to the best of his abilities.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan shared his thoughts on Tiger Woods’ future on tour and spoke about when he might return from injury.
The golf legend has been plagued by injuries in recent years, including suffering severe foot and ankle injuries in a life-threatening car accident in February 2021. As a result, in the three years since his tragic accident, he has played in just eight tournaments and his world ranking has dropped to 921.
Because of that, he is unable to compete in certain events, so a reporter asked Monaghan if he would introduce a special category in which former champions like Woods could compete. The 53-year-old said this ahead of the Players Championship, which starts on Thursday.
