Armed police are reportedly on the scene as Charlie Woods prepares to make his U.S. Junior Golf Association debut at the invitation of sponsors.

Tiger Woods’ son Charlie Woods will make his AJGA debut this week. Charlie, who turned 15 in February, was invited by his sponsor to compete in the Will Lowry Junior Championship.

Tiger was spotted cheering Charlie on at Carolina Trace Country Club during his first event on the course he dominated as a junior. The 15-time major champion had to rush home from the Bahamas after secret discussions with LIV Golf president Yasser Alrumayan.

Naturally, Charlie’s involvement in this field has generated significant media coverage and fan interest. There will be armed police at the entrance who will carefully check your ID before issuing your badge.

The move is likely a reaction to Charlie’s actions as he was attempting to play his first PGA Tour event in February. Charlie was qualifying for the Cowrant Classic, but things didn’t go to plan as he shot an 86 for par in 16 over.

However, his round was ruined by unruly behavior by fans at Lost Lake Golf Club. According to a detailed report in the Palm Beach Post:

Fans walked alongside Charlie on the fairway, ignoring pleas from tournament officials to maintain social distancing.
The woman admitted that she had taken her granddaughter from school in hopes that Charlie would notice.
A fan reportedly asked Charlie to sign his father’s book How I Play Golf.

Let’s hope Charlie’s final tournament goes well.

Charlie is still in the early stages of his junior career and primarily competes on the Hurricanes Junior Golf Tour and Junior PGA South Florida Tour. He had already won the tournament, winning by eight strokes just like Pops did in his prime.

Charlie also said he could be proud of his father when he won the state high school golf championship with the Benjamin School boys team last November.
