Lo and behold, Francis Ngannou is “not done” with boxing after defeating heavyweight Anthony Joshua.

Ngannou, 37, has two losses in two boxing bouts, but he has rejected offers to return to mixed martial arts permanently.

“I’m sure I’m not done here yet. It wasn’t my day. He was much better than me today,” Ngannou said. The 34-year-old Englishman put in a devastating performance against Ngannou, who defeated WBC champion Tyson Fury in 10 rounds four months ago.

Ngannou, who had never boxed professionally, began his career as an MMA fighter in the UFC, where he became a heavyweight champion.

The Cameroonian fighter has praised Joshua, and this is the first time Ngannou has been knocked out in both his mixed martial arts and boxing career. “(Joshua) was a special person because he stopped me,” Ngannou said. “He did what Tyson couldn’t do. “I didn’t feel much of an effect, and I think that’s the purpose of the KO. I don’t feel any pain. So I knew I was eliminated. ”

Francis Ngannou is yet to win in his professional boxing career.

In just four months, Ngannou has competed against two of the best heavyweight boxers on the planet, competing in his two biggest bouts in 2023 and his 2024. However, a few weeks before his fight with Joshua, mixed martial arts organization Professional Fighters League (PFL) announced that Joshua would fight MMA heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira later this year.

Ngannou left the UFC last year to pursue his boxing ambitions, but signed with PFL rivals last May. Although part of his PFL contract guaranteed him boxing freedom, Ngannou is now likely to return to MMA rather than compete in another boxing match.

Ngannou has not competed in MMA since his last UFC fight, when he defeated Frenchman Cyrille Gane in January 2022.
