Greg Norman appears to have been rejected again at Augusta National, this time not on the course, but in his third attempt at winning the Masters. He finished second three times, but unfortunately lost again. Wednesday’s par-3 event at Augusta National was attended by a prominent figure, none other than the CEO of LIV Golf and a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Norman was seen walking behind the ropes and watching several LIV golfers master the short iron. This surprise appearance sparked a debate not only among those in attendance but also among those watching at home. Norman is a two-time British Open champion, but surprisingly did not receive an invitation to the following year’s major tournament, which is usually given to former champions.

Fred Ridley said last year that an invitation to Norman was not made due to overriding concerns of keeping the focus on the Masters and its participants. Celebrating the world’s greatest players with updated invitation criteria introduced in December. How the shark got through the gate this year was initially controversial. However, his son Greg Norman Jr. clarified the situation on social media on Thursday. “It’s all true, really,” Greg Norman Jr. said. His father said he bought a ticket on the secondary market to attend the Masters as a patron after applying through professional means and then being rejected. Still, he tried to support the LIV players.

Once he got off the rope, hundreds of golf fans approached him and gave active support to him and LIV. It was a great experience as no one had any negative comments.

The reason for my post is that I have received a lot of hate in the past, most of it coming from naysayers and malicious trolls lurking in cyberspace for financial gain. This is to point out. On the contrary, I met quite a few people who were optimistic and supported LIV. Some people simply praise golf as a sport.

With that in mind, let’s toast to an unforgettable Masters Tournament. During the four days of competition, we put aside the negativity and just enjoy watching experienced athletes win the prestigious green jacket.

A subsequent Washington Post report revealed that Norman and two other LIV executives entered the premises through the main gate without waiting for an invitation. Golf Digest attempted to inquire whether the invitation had been extended to Augusta National, but did not receive a response.

Greg Norman expressed his desire and said he hopes to see increased participation of Saudi-sponsored league golfers in future Masters tournaments. Additionally, he expressed his support for one of the LIV players as he attempts to don the famous green jacket after his 72-hole victory. I can only imagine paying for a ticket online only to find out that the customer was a shark himself. Unbeknownst to the unfortunate spectators who may feel the wrath of Augusta National. Norman explained that he is at Augusta because he has a total of 10 Masters wins even though Augusta only has 13 players. He explained that his goal is to support and encourage his superiors by demonstrating their unwavering support.
