Tiger Woods competes on PGA Champions Tour in a cart due to injury
Paul Broadhurst assures circuit veterans will be happy to welcome the former world number one.
Tiger Woods retired in the second round of the Genesis Invitational and was disqualified from playing. Tiger Woods’s Akka has confirmed that he has refused to participate in the Golf Story Tournament. However, after an important issue of injury, Paul Bred Hurst guarantees that the world’s previous numbers need to use bugs during the PGA Champions Tour. Broadhurst has twice finished second on the U.S. Senior PGA Tour and his winnings just reached $728,000, all thanks to the Champions Tour rules that allow him to compete in golf cart tournaments.
PGA officials granted the player a buggy exemption last year. A British golfer is unable to play 18 holes on foot due to arthritis in his ankle and requires medication to be able to walk.
His situation is similar to that of Woods, who has been hit hard by injuries in recent seasons. The former world number one was forced to withdraw from recent events for health reasons, but Broadhurst said that was fine on the over-50 tour.
Woods on senior tour
Broadhurst asserted that if he joins the Championship Tour, “Woods will be able to ride the trolley and it will be fine for him.” Maybe he is looking forward to the game without walking.
At the same time, Broad Hurst has guaranteed that Tiger will be more than a tour of the tour. “No question. They’re hopeful and I think he’s showing signs that he’s happy enough to play into his 50s,” said the 2018 Senior PGA Championship champion.
Woods, 48, has experienced a number of injuries throughout his career, but in recent years his back and one ankle have been feeling constant discomfort. Last February’s Genesis Invitational was his first tournament in 10 months, but he had to withdraw due to health issues. However, his agent said he had a cold this time and it was not related to the injury.
Broadhurst continues to play despite injury
Meanwhile, the British veteran recalled that he suffers from severe arthritis in his right ankle, which prevents him from completing 18 of his holes during the round. However, the PGA Champions Tour allowed the use of carts, which allowed players to play the game more consistently.
He explained that his ankle requires surgery, but that will have to wait until he retires from the sport for good. “At this point, I was told I had a year to recover, but I won’t be able to play in this game for a year.”
“I’m 58 years old and I have to wait a few more years for that. For now we can fortunately take a cart. I can move this way and it doesn’t seem to affect my golf,” said the player.
