In less than two weeks, Tiger Woods will play his third official tournament of the year at the PGA Championship.
Woods was scheduled to conduct a scouting mission to the course on Monday before his next major start at Valhalla. According to an article in X TW Legion, Woods is scheduled to visit the Kentucky course just 10 days before the start of this year’s second major.
The article says: “Tiger is scheduled to visit Valhalla Golf Club, site of the PGA Championship, tomorrow, according to sources.”
His one of his four wins at the PGA Championship was at Bob Wanamaker in 2000 when he won his Trophy after his playoff win over May at Valhalla. It’s from. But that wasn’t the last time Woods played the course.
He missed the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla while recovering from knee surgery, but returned at the 2014 PGA Championship. However, he was unable to repeat his success from 14 years ago and missed the cut with a second-round 74. The 48-year-old will decide next week to ensure it never happens again. Woods faces a mixed fortune in 2024. His qualification was still to be determined at the Genesis Invitational in February, but he ultimately withdrew from the second round due to illness. Two months later, at the Masters, he set a record for the most consecutive cuts at an Augusta National Major, but that record disappeared over the weekend, and he ultimately finished 60th.

But a year after undergoing subtalar fusion surgery, there was still a silver lining that the long-term issue of his right ankle injury may have been resolved. Before the tournament, Woods expressed his desire to return to the plan he had originally made before last year’s Hero World Challenge of playing one tournament a month. He said, “Well, I just wasn’t ready to play. My body wasn’t ready. My game wasn’t ready. “And when I was at Hero, I thought once a month was a really good pace, and that just didn’t work out. But now, major championships are held monthly until July. So now I hope it will be held once a month.
Woods’ appearance in Valhalla this week is proof that plan is on track. As for his desire to win a fifth PGA title on top of his 15 major wins, he didn’t rule out the possibility. Last week, he appeared on Carson Daly’s Today Show and expressed his desire to “destroy” the logo of his own new clothing brand, Sunday Red. He explained: “The logo represents a tiger, everything is simple, beautiful and clean. I have a certain idea of what I’ve done in my career. If you look at the stripes, there are 15, and as you said earlier, he has won 15 major championships. My goal is to destroy this logo. I want to keep playing with the logo. If a brand is like that, it’s my job to destroy it.
