Tiger Woods and the PGA Tour plunge into chaos after latest resignation
Mark Flaherty has become the latest PGA Tour board member to resign a week after Jimmy Dunne’s departure due to lack of progress in LIV Golf peace talks.
Mark Flaherty has become the latest PGA Tour board member to resign. Flaherty’s resignation was confirmed in a May 19 memo to members from PGA Tour President Jay Monahan.
This means he becomes the second director to leave his position in the past week. Flaherty follows Rory McIlroy’s ally Jimmy Dunne out the door.
Mr. Dunn was one of the key architects of the June 6, 2023 framework agreement on Saudi Arabia’s PIF. He contacted LIV Golf mastermind Yasser Al-Rumayyan via WhatsApp and met the influential Saudi businessman in a series of secret meetings around the world.
The move angered many prominent golfers, including 15-time world champion Tiger Woods. Woods participated in the Political Council last August and warned Monacan as an official, in accordance with the fact that such agreements could not be made without the preliminary knowledge of the members.
It seems that the parties have achieved some progress to conclude the world. Dunne alluded to that in his resignation letter that was leaked before last week\’s PGA Championship at Valhalla.
He claimed his role had become \’ utterly superfluous\’ and he had been given the cold shoulder by the other player directors, seemingly still angry over the fact the agreement was made in secret.
Woods denied this was the case and claimed he was surprised at Dunne\’s decision.
Jordan Spieth, too, also took a dim view of Dunne\’s claims. 35 -year -old Macirla lamented Danna’s loss after being torn, trying to promote negotiations by participating in the council.
\ “Jimmy was mainly the relationship between the PGA tour and the PIF,” said Makira. \ “I was really sorry that he wasn’t involved in the last few months, but that’s because of the reasons that everything is falling down little by little. \.”
Mcilroy said that his hope was not inferior, as agreement could be concluded between the PGA tour and PIF.
FLAHERTY did not mention LIV lectures in his resignation. His participation in the board of directors is previously dated to the arrival of LIV.
Four and a half years later, he wrote: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Commissioner Monakhan and President [ED] Hurli for their leadership in the management of a commercial program and prosperous product; He is the one who constantly favors our fans, players, titles, media, tournaments, marketing partners and volunteers. “In addition, I want to express my sincere appreciation to the dedicated PGA Tour staff who work tirelessly to support management and ensure our events run flawlessly every week, thereby providing a superior product to the world of golf.
