Rory McIlroy issues six-word brutal response about his mindset following divorce bombshell

Rory McIlroy spoke for the first time since news of his divorce from wife Erica Stoll was confirmed on Tuesday and ahead of the US PGA Championship at Valhalla

Rory McIlroyclaimed: “I’m ready to play this week” while setting a new personal best for his shortest press conference of the season.

Before his latest attempt to complete his career Grand Slam at the Masters last month, his pre-tournament chat lasted under 11 minutes. After announcing his divorce this week and being asked not to ask any questions about his personal life, he took nine minutes and 20 seconds to enter and leave the media tent and asked just seven questions.

The sixth question was, “What about on a personal level?” The usually talkative world No. 2 quickly ended the request by saying: “I’m ready to play this week.” This week was supposed to be the perfect opportunity for McIlroy to end his nearly 10-year drought in the majors with the home of his last championship in 2014. Back then he had won his previous two events. He had repeated the feat this year by winning the Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championships and arrived here among the favourites. On Tuesday, it was reported that McIlroy had filed for divorce from his wife Erica, claiming that his marriage had “irretrievably broken down.”

Despite all the turmoil off the track, he insisted he would win tomorrow with “confidence” and “momentum”. He won the tournament when Makilra announced the end of the commitment with Caroline Wozniatski the day before BMW PGA 2014 in Veter.

In my entry remarks, the 4 Stroke winner states: Obviously, I had a great day coming out on Sunday at a golf course that I’ve come to love over the years and have had a lot of success with, and where I’ve had some success before.

“Of course we have to go back to Quail Hollow every year. Don’t really get to come back here too much. Today was the first time I was on the golf course since ten years ago, so it was good to refamiliarise myself with the place.

“The golf course is a little different than it was ten years ago, a little longer. A couple little minor changes but for the most part pretty much the same that I can remember from ten years ago. “Yes, watching, the game feels good, I left two interesting victorys with Shane in New Orleans, leaving a very good performance last week. I’m just trying to save the urge.

This week, Makira tried to “worry” Jimmy Danna, a friend of the PGA Tour Political Council. An American who was one of the key figures in signing a “framework agreement” with the PIF in June left the country, citing a “lack of significant progress” on a permanent agreement with Saudi Arabia.

“Well, frankly, I think it’s a huge loss for the PGA Tour to sign a deal with PIF and try to unify the game,” Ulsterman said. Jimmy was, in fact, “their” partner, a kind of link between the PGA TOUR and PIF. It’s a shame that he hasn’t been involved in the project for the past few months, and I think that’s partly why things have stalled. “So it’s really sorry, and you know, I think the tour is in a worse place. We will see it. Let’s see where this goes next and see what happens.

“I would say my confidence level that anything had been done up until last week was as low as it’s ever been, and then with this news of Jimmy resigning and knowing his relationship with the other party and how much warmth there is on the other side is worrying. In response to the final question, the PGA host said: we appreciate that. ”
