McIlroy made a 180-degree turn on LIV Golf recently, and Koepka’s wife, Jena Sims, used four words to sum it up perfectly.
Rory McIlroy shook up the golf world three days into 2024. McIlroy made some stunning comments about LIV Golf while on the English Stick to Football podcast.
“I was maybe a little judgmental of the guys who went to LIV Golf at the start, and I think it was a bit of a mistake because I now realize that not everyone is in my position or Tiger Woods’ position,” he said. “I’ve gone through the last two years with this altruistic approach where I’ve looked at the world the way I’ve wanted to see it.”
He went so far as to say he would even play LIV events “if it was turned into the IPL (Indian Premier League—Cricket) of golf.”
After the internet took some of his quotes from that interview, Brooks Koepka’s wife, Jena Sims, decided to troll a little.
She posted a photo of McIlroy onto her Instagram story with four simple words.
“New Year, New Rory.”
Of course, the masses found it and posted it online, where it would live forever instead of deleting after 24 hours like Instagram stories do.
Koepka also took to social media to post about McIlroy’s change of heart. He hilariously posted the meme of Kermit the Frog sipping some tea.

“I wouldn’t say I’ve lost the fight against LIV, but I’ve just accepted that this is part of our sport now,” McIlroy went on to admit.
For the 34-year-old Irishman to say these things after being the poster boy of the PGA Tour for the last two years is truly shocking. He has been outspoken against LIV Golf since its inception.
Whatever people may think of McIlroy’s new position, he has other things to worry about, like ending his major championship drought.
Maybe this is his way of turning a new chapter and starting over.
