The relationship between former President Bill Clinton and golfer Tiger Woods is said to have gotten off to a rocky start. The alleged enmity was caused in 1997 between them, when Woods refused to participate in the baseball match with Clinton in honor of the beginnings of Jackie Robinson in baseball Premier League as the first black player of the organization. Years later, they gathered to go to golf, which was reported, with a terrible experience, thanks to Woods. In a March 2018 biography of the golfer, authors Jeff Benedict and Armen Kheteian alleged that Woods was extremely disrespectful to the 42nd president during a casual game in February 2006, shortly before opening the doors at the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim, Calif. The 15-time major champion, who has amassed an impressive net worth over the course of his career, was reportedly on his cell phone for much of the match and refused to ride in the same cart as Clinton. Additionally, the book alleges that he committed other acts that are generally frowned upon in the golf world. “After completing a hole, he would regularly leave the green while others were still putting. This is a serious violation of golf etiquette,” the excerpt claims. Insiders also claimed that after Woods was given a photo of him and Clinton for autographs after the outing, it took him months to do so. These accusations stand in stark contrast to Woods’ version of events, which he detailed in the months following his meeting with Clinton. Tiger Woods seemed to enjoy his day on the course with Bill Clinton. While attending a children’s golf clinic in May 2006 in Arkansas, Woods talked about Clinton’s golf skills on his day off and shared his final score: “Woods 4, Clinton 3” (from The Ledger). “We had a good time. It was great to play with him, he’s very smart. Brilliant, things he knew to describe global politics … really wonderful. Representatives from both parties disputed the book’s explanations.

Doug Band, a former aide and adviser to President Bill Clinton who played with him on the course, denied any malicious intent on Woods’ part. A few days after the excerpt from Tiger Woods \, talked to Golf Digest was released the night before the book debut, and the group stated that the game was not true. \ The group explained, “It was an accidental round with a group of people who heard an outstanding story and enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy the day from other areas of the world,” said the group. That same month, Woods’ manager Mark Steinberg and chief spokesperson Glenn Greenspan also released a statement to Golf Magazine saying that authors Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteiyan did not conduct a proper investigation. It claimed that there were several errors in the publication. Woods then revealed that he was also not a fan of the HBO documentary released based on his biography. Tiger Woods and Bill Clinton reunited a few years after their 2006 round of golf. The pair were photographed talking at a welcome party for the Deutsche Bank Championship in August 2014 and shared by the Woods Foundation on X (formerly Twitter). After the party, the golfer himself also thanked Clinton online, writing in an Instagram post that same month: “My sincere thanks to @billclinton for coming to the #dbchampionship party. His support means so much to me and to all the children we are. trying to help.\”Even after the biography was published, it still doesn’t seem to have created any problems between the powerful duo. When Woods won his fifth Masters title in April 2019, Clinton was one of the many fans who congratulated the world-famous athlete online. The former US leader reposted a video of Woods accomplishing the incredible feat on his X account. In the caption, he wrote: “Never give up. Congratulations, Tiger.” Both men had nothing but good things to say about each other publicly. So whether there was any tension between them is still open to speculation. Interestingly, Bill Clinton isn’t the only former president close to the golfer. Tiger Woods is also a friend of Donald Trump.
