Tennis player Maria Sharapova and Tiger Woods attend Tiger Woods Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Celebration at the New York Public Library.

 

Maria Sharapova and Tiger Woods have a lot more in common than the ability to dominate their respective sports.

The tennis player and the golfer, both plagued by public cheating scandals, also share a penchant for charity. The pair of greats — each number one in their fields in the past — met up at the Tiger Woods Foundation’s 20th Anniversary celebration at the New York Public Library Thursday evening.

The organization, founded in 1996 by Woods and his father Earl, has been doling out thousands of dollars worth of scholarships for two decades and additionally seeks to create community-based programs to improve health and the overall well-being of children.

 

The pair of athletic greats were all smiles and dressed to the nines for the celebration.

Sharapova, on the other hand offered fans and fellow athletes an emotional apology when she tested for meldonium at the Australian Open in January.

In 2017, Feng became the only Chinese golfer to date to reach the world No 1 ranking. During a supremely consistent career, Feng registered 18 top-10 finishes in majors, two of them in 2021 even as she was winding down her playing commitments.
