Brand joined LIV Golf in 2022 as part of the first wave of defections.

He always maintained that he joined the separatist tour purely for the money. But he stressed to The Times that he wasn’t given a penny to join LIV, just the chance to play for big money.

“I didn’t receive a dollar when I signed,” he said. “I was given the opportunity to play and I had to qualify every year.”

His performances at LIV have been impressive to say the least, with the now 51-year-old avoiding relegation in his first two seasons.
