NOW: PGA of America issues official statement of brutality against Scottie Scheffler, denouncing him as…..
Scottie Scheffler was greeted with applause from attendees as he returned to the PGA Championship after being arrested. Scottie Scheffler made a statement on social media after being arrested and then released hours before the start of the second round of the PGA Championship.
The second round of the PGA Championship has been postponed following a tragic accident in the early hours of the morning near Valhalla Golf Club where a man was killed after being hit by a shuttle bus. The incident caused traffic jams as players tried to arrive at the field early to prepare for the second round.
Local reports said Scheffler tried to drive around the scene of the accident before being stopped by police and eventually handcuffed. The reigning Masters champion was placed in the back of a police car before the photo was released.
He was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and failing to comply with a traffic signal directed by a police officer. The 27-year-old was eventually released at 8:40 a.m. local time, where he was able to return to Valhalla.
Scheffler appeared in good spirits as he got out of his car and headed toward the clubhouse with about an hour before tee time. It was a quick turnaround for Scheffler as he tried to gain time on the stand and he was greeted with cheers from the few customers who were able to get in before the second round began.
