Wrexham are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window as
A finance expert has tipped Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to open the chequebook at Wrexham this summer on several new signings.

The Hollywood owners outpowered their League Two rivals with financial muscle but with the likes of Birmingham City and Huddersfield coming down from the Championship, the Reds will be competing against some big clubs in the transfer market.

Phil Parkinson is plotting moves across multiple positions, including goalkeeper, centre-back, left-back, central midfielder and striker as the 56-year-old aims to build on last season’s success.

Here’s all the latest Wrexham transfer news and rumours…

Marc Leonard to Wrexham latest
TEAMtalk reported earlier this week that Wrexham were locked in a transfer battle to sign highly-rated midfielder Marc Leonard from Premier League side Brighton.

Leonard spent the last two campaigns on loan at Northampton Town where he was a standout player but as he’s entering the final year of his contract at the AMEX, the Seagulls are willing to sell for £300,000.

It’s around the same fee that saw Wrexham break their club record to land Ollie Palmer from AFC Wimbledon in 2022.

Wrexham won’t find it easy to land the “outstanding” 22-year-old as Oxford United are the latest Championship side to join the race for his signature.

Wrexham want Wigan Athletic’s Jason Kerr
Earlier this month, Wrexham placed three released Wigan Athletic players on their wish list, including left-back Tom Pearce and strikers Josh Magennis and Stephen Humphrys.

Now, it’s a player the Latics would ideally like to keep who the Reds are ‘pushing’ to sign as centre-back Jason Kerr has emerged on their radar.

It is said that Kerr is ‘well-liked’ by Parkinson but as several Scottish clubs and League One rivals Peterborough are showing an interest, it’s going to be a battle to sign him.

Wrexham are looking for a new central defender after letting Ben Tozer, Aaron Hayden and Jordan Tunnicliffe depart at the end of their contracts so keep an eye on this potential move.

Phil Parkinson’s current transfer focus
Parkinson claimed Wrexham haven’t got to a stage where they are discussing fees for players this window and he’s instead focused on looking at who is available on a free, or out of contract next summer.

“We haven’t got to the stage of the summer of talking about fees and things like that,” Parkinson said.

“We are just looking at the players who are out of contract and the ones who have got one year left. Obviously we have done a lot of homework in the previous weeks as well.

The Wrexham boss is tight-lipped on whether McElhenney and Reynolds will spend but given their ambitions, expect the Reds to lay out fees for a few players.

Is Marvin Ekpiteta still on Wrexham’s radar?
Wrexham were linked with a move for centre-back Marvin Ekpiteta who was released from his contract at Blackpool last week.

It was claimed that the dominant 28-year-old wants a Championship move this summer however, he could be tempted by a switch to Wrexham.

There is no fresh update on whether Parkinson is still after him but as he said he’s looking at free agents currently, Ekpiteta is bound to be on his radar.

He’s made 59 appearances for Blackpool in the third tier and was labelled as “outstanding” by manager Neil Critchley after proving to be a reliable asset.

Wrexham are looking to bolster their back line this summer so it’s worth keeping an eye on how this transfer saga develops.
