Singer-songwriter Niall Horan becomes the latest investor in TGL, a tech-infused team golf league backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Horan, who first rose to fame as a member of boy band One Direction, invested in Boston Common Golf through his investment firm GreenBridge Ventures. Boston Common Golf is one of the original six teams in the TGL and is owned by Fenway Sports Group and McIlroy’s investment company, Symphony Ventures.

McIlroy and Horan are both from Ireland and are longtime friends. “Golf has always been my passion,” Horan said in a statement. “Being able to combine my love of the game and my friendship with Rory into a relationship that helps launch a new concept in golf is truly something special.”

Each TGL team will have four golfers hitting shots on the golf simulator screen until they are within 50 yards of the hole, with the action moving into a short playing area that transitions between the holes. The season consists of 15 games, plus playoffs.

Horan will also be an ambassador for Boston Common Golf, which will benefit his huge social media following, which includes 72 million followers on Instagram and Twitter – Woods has 10 million and McIlroy has 6 million. In 2015, Horan launched a golf-focused sports agency, Modest! Golf Management, with his partner, Mark McDonnell. Their clients include Tyrrell Hatton, who has won six European Tour events and one on the PGA Tour. That same year, Horan caddied for McIlroy at the annual Masters Par 3.

In addition to his singing career, Horan served as a coach on The Voice last year, mentoring several consecutive season winners. It is currently on the North American stage of the World Tour.

TGL started the game in January of this year, but has begun January with the first season. On December 7, 2025, the dome of the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens deflated after a power outage, causing TGL to delay construction by a year due to necessary repairs. Last month, Horan visited Performance TGL Laboratory and first displayed the technology used in competition.

The SOFI Center has a 3000 -square -foot simulator screen and a customizable game area of 22,475 square feet. TGL rules also include shots, and players’ league plans will be aware. The 1,500 lounge area was developed in the game area. The six teams that tied for first year of the TGL (Atlanta Drive GC, Boston, Jupiter Links GC, Los Angeles Golf Club, New York Golf Club and Bay Golf Club) attracted some of the sport’s finest players, including Arthur Blank, Steve Cohen, Alexis Ohanian and Marc Lasry, as well as athletes Serena Williams, Stephen Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Woods worked with David Blitzer on the Jupiter Series.
