“You could see Rory aiming at least a cup left from three feet. “They severely underplayed how difficult that putt was.”McIlroy missed two short putts down the stretch of the U.S. Open – a two-and-a-half footer on the 16th hole and the sidewinding four-footer on the 72nd hole of the championship.

The pull on the 16th hole was his first miss inside three feet all season. McIlroy will look to capture his fifth major title with a win at the Open Championship at Royal Troon in July.

During a supremely consistent career, Feng registered 18 top-10 finishes in majors, two of them in 2021 even as she was winding down her playing commitments.
