Six LIV Golf stars say they are the only players who want to return to the PGA Tour
All but six of the pros currently with LIV Golf will not be returning to the PGA Tour immediately, as Webb Simpson is sounding the alarm before it’s too late.
Webb Simpson estimates that if they decide to leave LIV Golf, only six players will be able to join the PGA Tour, while the rest will have to start from scratch.
When the breakaway league began recruiting golfers for 2022, it caused upheaval for the prestigious PGA Tour and sparked a backlash from fans. But golfers continued to change golf courses due to the financial incentive offered by the Saudi-backed organization with the ongoing Masters tournament.
Steps have been taken to prevent more players from leaving the PGA Tour, as European players heading to the LIV are currently disqualified from the Ryder Container and not all players can win OWGR rounds. While this is not a problem at the moment, it will prevent them from participating in all four major tournaments in the future, which could lead to a mass exodus. But Simpson, the defending US Open winner, remained committed to a PGA visit, although he acknowledged that the six golfers could bounce back quickly. Like everyone else, the American is convinced that he will have to connect to Q School or connect another visit, as he acknowledges that the size of the field is an issue at the moment.
