The Amazing Golf World responds to the shocking announcement of John Daly to the son’s suspension of the son of Junior Golf’s Tiger Woods Charlie Woods. Shocking reason revealed: “I wanted to win”: Charlie Woods cries after being disqualified from U.S. Junior after violent altercation

On Wednesday night, Charlie Woods, the 15-time major champion’s 15-year-old son, became the second member of the Woods family to qualify for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Woods shot a 1-under 71 during qualifying at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla., to secure a medalist spot and one of 264 spots for junior golf’s most prestigious championship.

According to the USGA, Woods overcame a two-bogey start to qualifying to record five birdies in his final 16 holes and take a one-stroke lead in the qualifying event. “I didn’t play very well the first two holes, but the last 16 holes I played really well,” the younger Woods said Wednesday. “I just told myself not to make any more bogeys or shots and when I got some great birdshots I enjoyed it. Putting was my biggest strength today. I made a lot of putts when I needed to.”

Tiger’s only son has reached cult levels of fame among golf fans in the years following his debut at the parent-child PNC Championship. That fame has only grown as his junior golf career has continued to take off in Southern Florida, but it’s also transitioned. After Charlie’s dazzling (and eerily Tigeresque) debut brought his golf game into focus, the youngest Woods has shifted in the spotlight, spending the last several months as his father’s swing coach du jour. “I trust him with my swing and my game,” said Tiger during the US Open last week. “He saw him more than anyone in the world. He saw how I hit more golf balls than anyone. Especially in my position, I tell him what to look at. He gave me some little tips today, which was great because I’m so used to hitting certain shots on certain pins that I tend to forget some of the things I’m working on.”

At the very least, the U.S. Junior Amateur will be a reminder that the youngest Woods’ athletic career continues. Charlie has had a tough few months, including failing to qualify Monday for his hometown PGA Tour event, the Cowlan Classic. Late last year, his high school coach, Toby Harbeck, spoke to him about his development as a player.

“There are certain pins you don’t want to chase, but he chases everything. When I can break him of that a little bit, he’s going to become a much better player,” Harbeck said, but… “He can bomb it out there 300-plus in a heartbeat. He’s got a different mode — sometimes it’s a nice easy swing, and then sometimes he puts it on ultra-mode and he can just fly it.”

Now the focus is set to shift again at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan, where the younger Woods will play for the U.S. Junior Amateur, the same event his father won three times as a junior golfer. Woods’ performance will be a large -scale exam for a great event in his first wonderful event -he says that he likes it.

“It’s incredible to get my first USGA championship qualification,” he said. “The USGA means a lot for me. I want to win the USGA championships and I hope one day the United States Open. »»
