Few athletes can claim to be as dominant in their sport as Armand “Mondo” Duplantis.

We got another reminder Monday at the Paris Olympics.

On his final attempt, Duplantis cleared 6.25 meters (20 feet, 6 inches), breaking the world record for the ninth time in his career.

“The biggest dream since I was a kid was to break the world record at the Olympics, and I’ve been able to do that in front of the most ridiculous crowd I’ve ever competed in front of,” the 24-year-old said after winning gold.

Earlier on Monday, the gymnastics competition came to a close and Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade won gold in the floor exercise, capping off an Olympics that also saw her win silver in the vault and the individual all-around.

Joining her on the podium were Americans Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles. Biles and Chiles bowed to Andrade on what was an all-Black podium.

“She’s an icon, a legend herself,” Chiles said of Andrade. “So I feel like being recognized is what everybody should do when it comes to somebody who’s put in the work, put in the dedication.”

Biles’ silver was the 11th Olympic medal of her illustrious career and the fourth of these Games. In Paris, she also won gold in the vault, the individual all-around and the team competition.

Here are the most compelling photos we’ve seen from these Olympics so far.
