(AP) — Chicago Bears guard Jonathan Owens returned from Paris full of pride in his wife Simone Biles’ accomplishments and showing off his Olympic pin. Owens returned to practice at Bears training camp this week after traveling to Paris to watch Biles win three gold medals and one silver.

“It was amazing to watch,” Owens said after Tuesday’s practice. “My wife is a warrior, that’s the only thing I tell people because I think that’s the way we play football. “You’ll be limping and you’ll be a little sore just before it, but once you’re gone you forget all about it. But it was amazing to see her pain tolerance and how she showed up on the field and, like I said, looked so graceful about everything, and people had no idea what was going on. I am very happy and proud of her.

“When she decided to return, she noticed everything she designed,” said Owens. “The opportunity to testify every day, the training you are experiencing. “Definitely on the first day she injured her calf, but just had the ability to get through that and go on the ice and still dominate.”

Owens owns traditional Olympic pins, including his wife’s.

“My favorite badge is the one we went with, it’s a Simone Biles badge,” he said. “Yes, this is my wife. This was done with her sign so that you can only get it from her or family.”

“I had to confirm that they had some of them here to bully the people,” he said. “‘No, I can’t do that, sorry. It’s in high demand. Everyone comes up to you and asks, ‘Do you have a Simone Biles pin?’ You too?

“So the only time I would trade something is if it’s like a super, super cool badge, but most of the time people see you and they want to give it to you. It was a great experience.”

Owens also watched the Bears beat the Houston Texans 21-17 during the road trip, a Hall of Fame game that was shortened to less than three quarters by a storm.

“It just felt like the stars aligned,” Owens said. “I always work here. At the end of the day, the coach called me and saw how I was progressing and confirmed that I was resting. They want to bless Simon and everything else, but they simply concluded what is going on. “I had my own iPad, so I was able to watch the movie in all the practice I missed. When they played, I think it was 2 o’clock in Paris. I was happy to leave me, as I said, as I said.

Note: After promoting the attack line last week, Bears actually had a Danella light and Ten Jenkins start tackle on Tuesday, and the goalkeeper Nate Davis practiced a limited base. Five starting defensive backs left the game: cornerback Montez Sweet, cornerback Andrew Billings, safety Ja’Quan Brisker, cornerback Kyler Gordon and cornerback Tyreek Stevenson. Coach Matt Eberflus said he plans to wait until Thursday to reveal whether Caleb Williams will start at quarterback against Buffalo in Saturday’s second preseason game.
