More than a year after the Holmes beating, 39 year old Ali fought a 10-rounder against Trevor Berbick, who nearly didn’t fight because he wanted more money. There was tremendous chaos surrounding the fight, but when it finally happened, Berbick ended Ali’s great career with a unanimous decision.
Ali was married four times and has nine children. The boxer spent the remaining years of his life in Scottsdale, Arizona with his fourth wife, Yolanda “Lonnie” Ali. He died on June 3, 2016 in Scottsdale at the age of 74.
