Aug. 3. The Facebook post (direct link, archived link) features gymnast Simone Biles and her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens.

JUST WHAT: Fox News just reported that the most decorated American Olympic gymnast of all time, Simone Biles, has announced her retirement at the age of 27 after winning gold at the Paris Olympics, and also revealed that she is “expecting a baby” with her husband Jonathan Owens (sic),” the post reads. “This joyous revelation marks a new chapter in her life as she steps away from competitive gymnastics to focus on her growing family.”

It was shared more than 2,500 times in less than a week. Another version of the statement was shared widely on Facebook. There is no such statement on the outlet’s website, and a spokesperson said Fox News “never reported” what was alleged in the social media post. Biles has not announced her retirement or pregnancy.
