Ian had known the King and Queen Camilla for a long time. He was also the Queen Mother’s Cavalier.

As well as being an excellent hunter and horseman, he also served in the Queen’s Hussars. Now the king has to face another blow, because he already has cancer. Lord Rothschild died last week. He was 87.

Ian’s daughter, Rose Farquhar, was with Prince William during his gap year in 2000. They had a lovely picnic in the Gloucestershire countryside.

Ian has long rented a farm on the Kings Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire. Charles II’s first husband, Stephen Parker Bowles, told the Daily Mail that Ian was seriously ill.

Andy reported that Ian died at Highgrove in the early hours of Wednesday morning. “He was wild as a hawk when he was young, but always very happy,” he said.

He added that Ian will be remembered as “one of the great dog handlers”.

Ian was Beaufort’s game master for 34 years. In respect for the old master, Viewfort Hunt wrote this on Instagram.

“Sending our love and dolphism to our family and friends, Ian Farker, will break our hearts,” said Hunt. It was pleasant for him to fly with us for 34 years. He died peacefully this week. He was loved and respected as “The Captain” by many who went out hunting. He was friendly and helpful, and was always happy to provide new and interesting ideas to anyone who asked.

“He was a very interesting man, and all who were lucky enough to be in his company and hear about his exciting and unusual life in the military and as a hunter will remember it forever.”

The Captain loved his family, his dogs and his beloved pets. We know that a whole pack of dogs is waiting for him.

“He loved his country and was above all else a gentleman. It will be very missing.
