Young darts sensation Luke Littler has candidly spoken about a dinner he had with the legendary Phil Taylor, detailing the sage advice imparted to him that might just shape his path to domination in the sport.

At only 17 years old and already boasting 10 PDC titles, Littler’s ascent within the professional ranks over the last year has been nothing short of meteoric. He has seized victories at elite events such as the Premier League of Darts, Grand Slam, and World Series Finals, and came close to glory at the 2023 World Championship before being bested by Luke Humphries.

With his position now rocketing to fourth in the PDC Order of Merit and earnings surpassing £1 million, all eyes are set on Littler for this year’s World Championships.

During a November meal with Burslem’s darting great Phil Taylor, Littler revealed some compelling advice he was given by ‘The Power’. He said: “As soon as he walked in, me and my mum were, ‘What is going on! ? Sat down having a meal with Phil Taylor!’ It was good,” Littler shared with The Telegraph.

“He was telling me some of the stories on tour, [about] some of the players. He was saying, ‘Just keep yourself to yourself. The least you interact with people, the harder it is for them. Don’t need to talk to anyone’.”

In addition to his thrilling darting endeavours, Manchester United fan Littler revealed an encounter with Sir Alex Ferguson, describing a brief but memorable conversation with the revered 81 year old former manager during a visit with the Red Devils squad.

Regrettably, the young darts player couldn’t quite grasp the sage advice offered by the esteemed Scottish player: “I didn’t really understand him…I did hear him say, ‘stick at it’,” Littler confessed.

Many in the darts community have high hopes for Littler’s future in the sport, believing that with his youth on his side, he has a genuine shot at chipping away at Taylor’s impressive collection of accolades.
