Tiger Woodsย is no longer hosting theย 2025 Genesis Invitational.

On Monday, Feb. 10, Woods, 49, announced onย Instagramย that he is โ€œjust not readyโ€ to participate following theย death of his motherย last week.

โ€œI did my best to prepare, knowing itโ€™s what my Mom would have wanted, but Iโ€™m still processing her loss,โ€ Woods wrote in the post. โ€œThanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Momโ€™s passing.โ€

Woods was set to tee off the tournament at the Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California on Feb. 13. The event would have been Woodsโ€™ first PGA Tour start since last yearโ€™s Open Championship and his sixth back surgery in September.

The golfer announced his motherโ€™s death on Feb. 4 in aย social media post.

โ€œIt is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning. My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable,โ€ Woods wrote. His mother was 81.

He adds: โ€œShe was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible. She was loved by so many,ย but especially by her two grandchildren,ย Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you Mom.โ€

Woods, who often dons an iconic red polo on Sundays, credits his mother for the fashion choice. Years ago, Woods wore blue to two tournaments while playing junior golf โ€” losing both.

โ€œ[I] switched to red and I went on a hot streak. And, well, I kept it,โ€ he said.

In 2009, he supported his motherโ€™s instinct on his website: โ€œYou should always listen to your mom.โ€

It was the most memorable moment of my career.” Brought up in China’s southern Guangdong province, neighbouring Hong Kong, an 18-year-old Feng became the first Chinese player to earn an LPGA tour card in 2007. The easy-going Feng went on to be the first Chinese player, man or woman, to win a major and lifted 10 LPGA titles during her 14 active years on the tour. In 2017, Feng became the only Chinese golfer to date to reach the world No 1 ranking. During a supremely consistent career, Feng registered 18 top-10 finishes in majors, two of them in 2021 even as she was winding down her playing commitments.
