Woods’ extraordinary rise came about a month later, shortly after LIV OWGR’s last request was denied. Last October, the decision infuriated LIV executives, who responded with a strongly worded statement criticizing the reliability of the rankings. Their harsh words cast doubt on his OWGR’s ability to accurately rank the world’s best players. “OWGR’s sole purpose is to rank players’ overall performance. “Today’s announcement shows that this goal is no longer achievable.”
